EVERLONG THE TRIBUTE

BIOS:
Everlong The Tribute are four professional musicians and Foo Fighter fans faithfully committed to reproducing the sound and on-stage energy of the Foo Fighters. They aren’t look-alikes or wig wearing wannabees pretending to be the Foo Fighters. The Foo Fighters are not into computers, digital sampling, looping, sound effects or any modern techno gimmickry. Everlong the Tribute shares that same philosophy, pure unadulterated play your ass off give it all you got rock and roll.
Everlong The Tribute started out as a conversation between two neighbors, Paul Calder (guitar and lead vocals) and Bill Orr (bass and backing vocals) who literally live across the street from each other. Paul and Bill have been playing together off and on for years. “Hey wouldn’t it be cool to have a Foo Fighter tribute band”? Time passes. Paul meets Timothy Pyle (guitar and backing vocals) on a gig where they were both hired guns for a touring band for a new country artist – of all things. No tour, the country project dies, but Paul and Tim forged a lasting musical friendship during the project. Paul says as they leave the dead country carcass, “Hey one of these days I’m going to form a Foo Fighter tribute band you interested”? A couple years down the road Paul, Bill and Tim get together to begin rehearsals for the Foo tribute project. The search for a drummer began. Not just any drummer but a drummer that plays like Taylor and Dave all rolled into one. That should be easy…NOT! They find someone to fill the slot. Just before the first gig he quits. What to do? Enter Dan Nelles (drums). Dan had played with Paul before in other bands and once he heard about the Foo project (being an avid Foo fan) he said “count me in”. The band is now all together and has fine tuned the “Foo “sound in order to deliver an unparalleled performance of everything Foo – no gimmicks, pure unadulterated play your ass off give it all you got rock and roll.
When you can’t afford Dave……..Everlong The Tribute.
Paul Calder: Lead Vocals & Guitar
Paul started playing guitar and singing in the second grade. To begin his professional career and pay his dues, Paul toured throughout the US and Canada for three years straight performing six nights a week. He then moved to LA to study guitar at Musicians Institute. In a guitar armed rebellion against the music industry machines pop standard Paul decided to start the progressive band “The Obvious Wish”. The battle still rages on. Paul is still recording and producing with “The Obvious Wish”. In one of those crazy rock and roll stories that every professional musician has, Paul was asked to join signed recording artists “Metal Knights”. Unfortunately, shortly after completion of the album the lead singer died and so did the band. Paul is currently recording and producing at his studio in Burbank, California while having fun, learning and performing Foo songs.
Timothy Pyle: Guitar & Backing Vocals
Tim became interested in music at an early age and started playing in his first band and writing original music at the age of nine with some of his grammar school pals. Studied music at Albertson College and after the first year of college, he got an offer to play guitar for “Salem Mass”, a hard rock band in the Pacific Northwest, when their guitar player couldn’t go on tour to support their record. Tim, ironically just as Paul had done, spent the next three years touring the US and Canada playing six nights a week. Tim then moved back to Los Angeles where he worked with various live bands as a hired gun, as well as session work for assorted projects while completing his studies at UCLA. He most recently completed writing; recording and producing all the original music for the documentary film short Dancing Like Home. Tim is currently writing and recording at Tribal Knowledge Productions his studio in West Hills, California while having a blast performing the songs of The Foo Fighters.
Bill Orr: Bass & Backing Vocals
Bill, for his 16th birthday, got a bass and almost simultaneously was in his first band. At 19, Bill started playing and recording all over the Chicago area and Midwest. Being from Detroit, Bill’s earliest bass influences were, of course Motown, “Grand Funk Railroad”, “Yes”, and “The Who”. Bill then immersed himself in the famous Chicago blues scene, where he jammed with some of the members of “Lynyrd Skynrd”. While still in the Midwest, he opened for Rick Derringer, “Cheap Trick”, and “Styx”, just to mention a few. Bill then moved to Los Angeles, took a break from playing and studied with jazz great Bunny Brunel. Bill enjoys a diverse musical background, plays and listens to all types of music – especially the Foo Fighters.
Dan Nelles: Drums/Percussion
Dan a native of Toronto, Ontario, started playing drums at the age of 14. Dan entered the professional music scene in Toronto after graduation from University, his first bands in Canada, Sugar Cain and March, achieved some commercial success. Dan moved to Los Angeles and joined Dream Life Misery (DLM), featuring the singer and guitarist of Everlong The Tribute, Paul Calder on guitar. DLM achieved some commercial success after signing with Morey Management (Miley Cyrus, Neil Diamond, Macy Gray) and publisher Peer Music began touring throughout the US. Dan has played with numerous artists including Bela, Noris, Amy Craze and Run and also performs with Canadian artist Amy Hef, winner of the $200,000 iHeart Radio contest. Dan toured New Zealand with Amy opening for Vicki Peterson of The Bangles. He then joined his friends Cynthia Catania and Steve Giles and formed the power rock trio The Secret Things, signed a record deal with Swedish label Loud Kult, distributed by The Orchard. In a full circle moment, Dan was invited by Paul to join Everlong The Tribute, being a lifelong Foo Fighters fan, Dan was very excited to join the band and has been bringing his talents to the live shows ever since.
